Tostadas de Chow Mein is a popular Guatemalan recipe, featuring chow mein noodles and veggies served on top of a tostada.

The chow mein tostada has become a Guatemalan favorite since Chinese immigrants brought Chow Mein to the country in the late 1800s. It has evolved over time to the version served on a tostada, but still relies on sauces like Lee Kum Kee Dark Soy Sauce Premium and Sesame Oil Blended with Soybean Oil to add those Chinese flavors that are quintessential to chow mein.

How to make it

  1. First, in a skillet, add cooking oil and fry the chicken.
  2. In a separate pot, add oil and fry the vegetables - carrot, chayote squash, celery, onion, and red bell peppers. Then add the fried chicken to the vegetables and cook over low heat.
  3. Next, boil water in a pot and add the chow mein noodles.
  4. Remove the noodles from heat and drain. Add cold water to prevent overcooking. Then add the noodles to the chicken and vegetable mixture. Mix well and add the Lee Kum Kee Dark Soy Sauce Premium and the Lee Kum Kee Sesame Oil Blended with Soybean Oil.
  5. Finally, you can serve this mixture on tostadas according to your preference.
